Coming into the winter months its so nice to have a comforting hot chocolate, however where I can I like to try and avoid a sugar high for the kids! This hot chocolate is full of fats and protein to balance the blood glucose levels, plus the added fats make this hot chocolate so creamy and delicious! This recipe is suitable after 12 months of age.
Hope you and your little ones enjoy this recipe – its actually a sneak peek out of our new toddler book coming out very soon – if you want to be the first to know when the preorder is out (before it sells out) you can sign up on this link!
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 cup water
- 1 TBSP cacao powder
- 1 TBSP collagen powder optional
- 1 TBSP butter or coconut oil for DF
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 2 tsp maple syrup or honey
Place all ingredients in a saucepan over a low-medium heat and whisk until lumps are dissolved and mixture is warm (around 3-4 minutes).
Pour mixture into a blender and blend on high for 30-60 seconds until creamy and frothy.
Pour into two mugs, sprinkling with extra cinnamon is you like, and enjoy immediately.
