Easy Apple Fritters for Babies & Toddlers (BLW-Friendly + Freezer Friendly)

Looking for a quick, nourishing and baby-led weaning friendly snack? These soft and lightly spiced apple fritters are made with just a handful of ingredients and are perfect for little hands to explore. Whether you’re serving them as breakfast, a snack, or part of lunch, these fritters are gentle on tiny tummies and naturally sweetened with apple. They also freeze and reheat beautifully—making them a great option to prep ahead!

  • Fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freezer: Freeze in a container or bag for up to 2 months, best with a piece of baking paper between each fritter so they don’t stick together.
  • To reheat: Warm in a frying pan or pop in the toaster or air fryer until heated through. They can also be served cold on-the-go.

Ingredients

1 apple grated

1 egg

1 TBSP heaped cassava flour (can also use spelt or buckwheat flour)

1 sprinkle cinnamon

1 TBSP hemp seeds

1 TBSP ghee or coconut oil (for cooking)

Method

1. Add all ingredients (except ghee/oil) to a bowl and stir well to combine.

2. Heat ghee or coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

3. Once hot, spoon the batter into small fritters (about 3) and gently press into shape.

4. Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden and cooked through.

5. Serve warm—either whole or cut into finger-sized strips for your baby or toddler.

  • Gluten-free option: Use cassava or buckwheat flour
